When did you start working at Neumovement and what do you enjoy about working here?

I first started at Neu in November 2020 as an admin. Although I was a physiotherapist in the UK I didn't have my license to practice in Canada and at the time I wasn't planning to be in Canada for much longer. Working admin was great, I learned a lot about how the clinics are run and about extended health insurance. I loved having time to chat with all my wonderful coworkers and our lovely clients. Then, in 2021 I decided BC was where I wanted to stay long-term so I applied for permanent residency and began working on the long process of getting my physio license in BC. During that time, I also trained as a Pilates instructor and then taught private and group Pilates at Neu. I finally started working as a physio again in January 2023, I am very happy to be back in the job I love and the skills I learned working as a Pilates instructor have been invaluable.

I love our team at Neu and how we all look out for each other. I have never been surrounded by so many people who understand that caring for ourselves is essential to providing great care to others.

What made you want to become a physiotherapist?

As a teenager, I knew a few people with multiple sclerosis and thought it was really cool that physiotherapy could help people with MS achieve a better quality of life. I told my older sister I was thinking physio might be the career for me and she said I'd be great because I'm bossy (I prefer 'assertive') and the rest is history!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Right here to BC. Over and over again this province astounds me and I make the most of living here with regular trips to the mountains and the coast to enjoy it.

What is your favourite way to spend a day off?

Hiking in the mountains with the bears and no cell service! Nothing beats a dip in a cold alpine lake!

Who inspires you?

My lovely coworker Megan. She is such a badass. We almost never get a chance to catch up, but EVERY time we do she says something which makes me appreciate life a little bit more.

What in your life do you feel most grateful for?

Meeting my now partner, JD, on a mountain, and him being adventurous enough to give me his number!

Describe yourself in three words.

Chatty, silly, loving.

What would you choose if you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life?

The toughest question of all... nut loaf, roasted carrots, broccoli, mashed potatoes, and lots of gravy! And of course dessert - sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Yummm

Do you have a fun fact about yourself you'd like to share?

I can speak Welsh!
